The CD Services on-line shop has a helpful Search facility on board. This tool will enable you to quickly locate an Artist, Band, Album or Style you are looking for, by pointing to its exact location in the department area you are in.

There are two locations for the tool and two options for its use. You will find a ‘Search’ box at the top left side of your screen, or if you click the ‘Find’ link on the top information bar of the shop window you will connect to the other one.

Option 1: Type a name into the top left hand ‘Search’ box and click the ‘Search Names Only’ button. This locates a displays Artist and Band names only, and is this option has the quickest response time.

Option 2: Type a name into the top left hand ‘Search’ box and click the ‘Search Names & Descriptions’ button.

This extends the search to include the entire department area you are in and locates and displays not only the actual name you are looking for, but also every other disc that is linked your search criteria. (I.e. if we have quoted that name as a comparison in a review, or as style description on another album, then you will see all these in the results list too).

For example: if your search word is VANGELIS and you use the ‘Search Names & Descriptions’ button, the tool will display all of the VANGELIS titles we have PLUS all other musicians that we have flagged as being in a similar style to VANGELIS, plus anywhere in the department area where VANGELIS is mentioned in a review or an album title.

If you wish to view only a selection of titles that we compare to another more famous name, but NOT the main artist’s titles, then type: STYLE/LINK: then the ‘ARTIST NAME’ and use the ‘Search Names & Descriptions’ option button.

For Example: to display just artists likened to VANGELIS, but NOT the actual VANGELIS titles themselves, you can type: STYLE/LINK:VANGELIS (with no spaces) using the ‘Search Names & Descriptions’ option and all style descriptions related to VANGELIS will be displayed.

Please Note: When you want to search for an artist with a fairly common name, and you want to restrict the search to just the one artist, type in the Surname first, and the Christian name after that (e.g. ADAMS, BRYAN). The same rule applies if you are using the STYLE/LINK command – Type: SYTLE/LINK:ADAMS, BRYAN.

If you wish to search for a certain ‘Style’ of music within a department area (e.g. SYMPHONIC ROCK titles in the PROGRESSIVE DEPARTMENT) type the word ‘SYMPHONIC’ into the search box and use the ‘Search Names & Descriptions’ option button. The search results panel will then display all the titles in that department that we have flagged as SYMPHONIC ROCK.

You can also search on ‘Format’, i.e. if you want to view one of the more selective formats like all the limited edition compact discs that come from Japan in mini replica LP covers, you type CCCD and select the ‘Search Names & Descriptions’ option button, or to view our selected music DVD’s, just type DVD into the box. You can also search on an Album Title in the same way.

In all cases, when the search results are displayed, click on the underlined part of the title data to locate the item you want to read about or possible order.

Please Note: If you find the system becomes slow in locating any items after clicking on them in the Search Results panel, just go out of the department area and then re-enter again to refresh the system. Any order items already in your shopping basket from the previous visit will be saved for you, so don’t worry about losing anything when you temporarily leave that department area.

It really is a case of experimenting and trying different variations – Once you spend some time trying different things and see the results they bring, you will soon get to grips with how it all works – and it’s all good fun too!
